I have come to realize that I have become a festive blogger, which means blogging at special events. Hmm Ugadi is on its way, what am I writing about? I was in full reflection. I had been to a cat cafe and I met Stella. I’m revealing her story. Ugadi signifies starting something new. Allow her to inspire you to begin your New Year with a new YOU. Joyful Ugadi to you. Here comes Stella.
I grew up with cats as pets. My daughter and I have been wanting to visit the Cat Café at Mumbai since we heard about it a year ago. On February 22, 2023, we reached the cat cafe at 4:30 p.m.
Most of the cats were resting lying listlessly . Only three or four were active out of 30 odd.
As a kid, I always had fun with cats, I expected a playful adventure with them.
I was looking forward to a joyous environment. But I realized that cats at home are not the same as cats at the shelter. Most of them have been rescued and sheltered there. I was reminded of orphans.
That sad reality grounded me. I sat silently on the bench and stared at them had a glance, One of the cats was hurt. It hurt me to look at her. I was watching in silence.
I heard a thud, turned my head and saw Stella limping and running. I thought she hurt herself on the leg.
She was running from one side to the other hither and thither . She jumped to a window and sat looking outside. At some point, she jumped down with a thud. She walked over and sat in front of me.
Her eyes were very sharp and she looked through my eyes as if she was connecting to me. I saw her up close and I realized she was born with just 3 legs. Most of the four legged cats slept and few were lazy to even open their eyes or to respond to the sounds we made. Here she had only three legs and was attempting to explore and discover the world around her.
She reminded me of how people behave.
I have seen so many people having everything and yet all they do is cribbing about life.
I also met people who gave up on life due to small difficulties.
I’ve also met people who don’t have a lot in life, but who are trying to make the most of what they have, like this Stella.
